About Dr. Hogg

Five decades at the frontier of sport & performance psychology.

Dr. John M. Hogg is a pioneer of sport and performance psychology in Canada. He led the Scottish and British National Swim Teams from 1967 to 1974, coached the Canadian Olympic Swim Team at the 1976 Montreal Games, and served as Professor at the University of Alberta from 1978 to 2003.

His first peer-reviewed publication appeared in 1973. He has since mentored 50+ Olympic athletes across four Olympic teams, including Wayne Gretzky and Mark Tewksbury, and was named British Coach of the Year in 1974 and received the Geoff Gowan Award in 2015.

The workbooks and related collection on this site are based on the mental performance framework he developed across those five decades.
